Director, Correctional Ministries Institute
Dr. Karen Swanson is Director of the Correctional Ministries Institute and Co-Founder of CMCA. As Director, she oversees the Charles W. Colson scholarship program and pursues the goals of the Correctional Ministries Institute through networks, collaboration and strategic partners. She has more than 25 years of higher education experience and has developed and teaches the Certificate Program in Correctional Ministry courses offered through the Correctional Ministries Institute.
Lead Chaplain, Reach the Forgotten
Sarah Heaton is currently the Lead Chaplain at Reach the Forgotten Jail Ministry. Sarah has been involved in jail ministry for 15 years.
Sarah will be presenting SING curriculum–Stories in Grace. SING is an interactive Bible study for women utilizing movie clips from Magdalena. This curriculum is used with women in jails, prisons, and safe houses.
Chaplain, Good News Global
Marcus is in his 30th year of ministry as a Chaplain with Good News Global. Marcus has served and partnered with the Colorado Department of Corrections for nearly 18 years.
Marcus will present the Stepping Up: A Call to Courageous Manhood curriculum. This curriculum is used in prisons or reentry programs with men.
Leader, Storyteller, Advocate
Erika has spent 15 years in non profit leadership. She was recently Director of Programs and Outreach with Reach the Forgotten Jail Ministry. Erika’s work in jail and prison ministry began in 2007 when she lived in Honduras.
Erika will be presenting a curriculum based on the book Safe People: How to find relationships that are good for you and avoid those that aren’t by Henry Cloud.
